Hello there. I’m Carly Kuhn, artist, illustrator, collector, textile designer and overall very curious person. I have been a working illustrator for over 10 years having had the privilege to collaborate with brands such as Bergdorf Goodman, American Ballet Theater, Rosewood Hotels, Sotheby’s and more. I kind of fell into this career as an artist by accident. I worked in TV comedy for 5 years, took improv classes at the famed Groundlings improv school, but knew I wanted to be doing something more creative… hands on. So, I created an Instagram (originally called The Cartorialist), and just started drawing and posting everyday…then the power of the internet took over- a cool thing here, a cool thing there, and (in short) here we are today!
I draw almost every day. I enjoy a good quotidian doodle, I have a fondness for lettering - transforming the humble alphabet into a character of characters, and I love writing limericks to accompany said characters. In my Substack, I hope to bring a little creative joy to your inbox. It’ll be a peek into my creative process, a comic book section of sorts from your favorite newspaper- a place to learn, escape, laugh, be inspired and more. I will also share upcoming projects (like my first book!!!) and perhaps we’ll even draw together (similar to my Skillshare classes).
